Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Marion Vasco Selover, Sr.

Marion was born August 7th, 1918 to Edward and Blanche Selover on the family homestead south of Kimball, Nebraska.

He grew up with three sisters. He attended a small country school near their home the first eight years of school and graduated from Kimball County High School in 1935 at the age of 16. He married Neva Pauline Moss in Alliance, Nebraska on September 3rd, 1938. He was earning $9.00 per week at the time they were married and was training as an auto body and fender repairman. His boss encouraged him to prepare for the painting by masking with the newspaper face down to speed things up.

A lifelong auto body repairman, he owned his own shop in Payette before going to work for Manser Ford in Payette spending many years as the body shop foreman. He retired in 1980 after 35 years of service.

Marion and Neva were blessed with six children including Marion, Jr. (Sonny) of Payette ID, Kathleen, Janelle, Clinton of Nampa ID, Marci of Tangent, OR and Michael of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. They have 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. They lost Janelle as an infant and Kathleen passed away at age 52. Kathy Kay was a very special gift to the family as a Down syndrome child.

Marion was also preceded in death by his loving Neva, his parents and three sisters, Helen age 104, Frances age 90 and Maxine age 52.

Marion spent much of his time after retirement alongside Neva caring for their home where they lived for nearly 70 years. He enjoyed visiting with others having completed 20 years as a volunteer host at the Ontario Welcome Center.

The family is so thankful for the time Marion and Neva spent together at Royal Villa in Payette. The staff's daily caring and the friendships they enjoyed there are priceless.

At Marion's request there will be no services at this time.

Memories and condolences may be communicated to family and also on Marion's memorial page at http://www.summersfuneral.com.
