Alan D. Jackson

Alan Dale Jackson, 77 died Wednesday Feb. 17, 2016 at his home in Niangua, MO, near Springfield. A memorial service was held at that time.

He was born July 13, 1938 in Dix, Neb. to Elton G. Jackson and Neva M. (Wright) Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary of Niangua and Carol of Kimball, two brothers Dean of Pierce, CO and Richard of Sidney NE. He is survived by one sister, Bernita (Jackson) Brown and her husband Noia B. of Kimball and longtime friend Sherman David Smith and son Tommy, many friends, nieces and nephews.

Alan graduated from Kimball High School in 1955 and worked at Co-op grocery store for two years before joining the Navy. He retired from the Navy after 20 years as a Corpsman E7. He then came to the Niangua/Conway MO area where he had a small farm operation, purchased the Abby Lee Court along Route 66 and maintained several rental properties.

He was baptized as a child in the Kimball Presbyterian Church and was presently an active member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lebanon MO. He was a longtime member of the Conway AA Group, maintaining his sobriety for 30 years and assisting many members of the local group.

A service of spreading his ashes will be held on Sept. 16 at his home.
