Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk

The annual Vince’s Corner ABCD Double Draw Golf Tournament was held this past weekend at the Four Winds Golf Course and all went well thanks in large part to the Heeg family with Henry Heeg the man in charge, along with Four Winds Pro Chad Wise and everyone else who volunteered their time and effort. It was great to see so many former Kimball area residents back in town for the tournament. See the story and all of the results in this week’s Observer Sports.

-----------------------------------

Now the next big tournament scheduled for the Four Winds is the 25th annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic scheduled for August 6th. The format as usual is a four-person scramble. Cost is $75 per person or $300 per team, which gets you golf, lunch and supper, a Foundation Golf Classic Dry Zone, Moisture-wicking polo shirt, plus numerous raffle and flag prizes. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to help purchase a new bathing spa for patients at the Kimball Health Services.

Lunch and registration will be at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12 noon. Entry deadline is July 22 to enable the sponsors to assure you the proper shirt size. Anyone, or any business, wishing to be tournament sponsors or anyone or any business who would like to donate towards flag prizes, can contact Kerry Ferguson at 308-235-1967. Call the Four Winds Pro Shop at 235-4241 for more info or to sign up.

-----------------------------------

Four Winds Pro Chad Wise informs me they are starting up the Friday night two-person Fun Nights with tee off times from 4 to 6 p.m. Cost is just $2 per person plus green fees etc. This is open to all golfers so call the pro shop and get signed up.

Also, on Saturday, Chad has scheduled a Parent-Youth event for golfers and their parents from the Junior Golf program. Again, call for Tee Times.

-----------------------------------

Our Kimball Junior Golfers are doing quite well in the Panhandle Junior Golf Tour program. They played last week at Mitchell and took the top three spots in the boy’s older age group. Jordan Greenwood was 1st with his round of 74, Dillon Wise 2nd with 75, and Zane Anthony 3rd with 78. Brendan Walker finished 4th with 80, Andrew McCloud shot 81, and Izaac Reuter 93. Tristan Zitek of Pine Bluffs shot 86. Payton Wise playing in the older girls division despite still in junior high shot 88 for 4th place.

-----------------------------------

In the recent Panhandle Senior Men’s play at the Kimball Four Winds course, Kevin Thomas took the top honor winning the top flight with his round of 77 gross or 71 net.
