Greenwood family defends Father's Day golf title

The Greenwood family successfully defended their Father's Day Golf title this past weekend and have now won the championship of this favorite Kimball Four Winds Golf Tournament the past two years. A total of 29 three-person scramble teams participated this year and the team of Kenny Greenwood and his sons Jeff and Jordan shot rounds of 61-57=118 to win by two strokes over the team of Kevin Thomas, Kaleb Thomas, and Jordan Ottoson who shot 61-59=120. Third place in the championship flight went to Henry Heeg, Henry Heeg Jr. and Vinny Heeg with rounds of 60-62=122. The tournament was divided into three flights with the team of Chad Wise, Dillon Wise, Payton Wise winning the first flight with a score of 65-63=128, winning by score card playoff over the Daum team consisting of Mark Daum, Colton Daum, and Jake Daum with their rounds of 65-63=128. The team of Tom Southard, Doug Southard, Steven Burback finished third in the first flight with 66-64=130. Second flight winning team was Don Buddecke, Jim Eddington, Luke Eddington shooting 71-67=138. They also won by score card playoff over the team of Lloyd Howard, Chuck Christensen, Pete Wistrom who shot 72-67=138. A Wamsley team from Sidney shot 71-68=139 for third place. A total of four skins were paid out on Saturday to the teams of Greg Robinson, Doran Bush, Kenny Greenwood, and Corbet Hahn but no team won a skin on Sunday so that money in this category was awarded to the Kimball Junior Golf program. Nice weather and a well groomed golf course was pleasing to all golfers who applauded the efforts of Jeremy Williams and his staff for the preparation of having the course in excellent condition. Four Winds Pro Chad Wise and his staff also did their job in running the tournament in fine fashion and Tournament Directors, Pat O'Brien and Randy Bohac also made things go smoothly. The Thursday Men's League donated 14 flag prizes. The Panhandle Automotive Group donated the Hole-in-one prize both days on hole 6 but there was no winner. The Kimball cheerleaders offered food on the course both days as a money raiser. The Windbreak Restaurant furnished a fine buffet dinner Saturday evening for golfers and family. Overall, it was once again a successful weekend for this favorite family type golf tournament with a traditional history, and this year's teams were a majority of all family member teams. Arne Christensen and Bob Barrett, two gentlemen who have been a big part of the Kimball Golf programs for many years were given special recognition as both passed away this past year and will be missed greatly. Now all area golfers are asked to get their teams formed for this Saturday's annual TeamMates four person scramble at the Four Winds. It is your chance to help fund a great program to aid our young people as together we can transform lives. The cost is just $60 per person which includes lunch and a nice golf shirt, along with some special prizes for the winners.
