Chase County SPVA track champions

The host school, Chase County, won both the girl's and boy's team titles at the SPVA Track and Field Meet held in Imperial this past week. In the girl's division they piled up 193 points with North Platte St. Pats a distant runner up with 94 followed by Bridgeport with 90, Sutherland 51, Hershey 51, Kimball 34, Perkins County 13.

In the boy's division it was Chase County 121, St. Pats 100, Bridgeport 88, Kimball 68, Perkins County 66, Hershey 47, Sutherland 37.

Highlight of the meet for Kimball had to be the win by Trent Rutledge in the pole vault with a winning height of 13'6" which tied the 40 year old school record set by Bob Gerner way back in 1976! Jaden Withrow won the triple jump with his second best career distance of 43'5.50", just shy of his winning leap of 43'7.75" at the Best of the West a day earlier. The jumping junior also was second in the long jump at 21'4.50" and is peaking at just the right time.

Kyle Spicer had a good day in the sprints running fourth in the 100 in 11.53 and fourth in the 200 in 23.84. Withrow and Spicer teamed with Jaikob Cole and Jake Jenkins to run second in the 4 x 100 relay with their time of 46.40. Brady Kilgore continues to shine in the hurdles, finishing third in the 110 meter highs in 16.4 and third in the 300 hurdles in 44.35.

Brandon Barker ran a great 3200 meter race finishing second in 10:49.34 and just one second behind the winner, Indy Smith of Chase County with his winning time of 10:48.57. Freshman Zachery Wagner ran fifth in 11:30.18 and also picked up sixth place in the triple jump at 39'3". Ryan Soper ran sixth in the 800 meters in 2:12.03. Rutledge was sixth in the high hurdles in 17.47. The 4 x 800 relay team of Soper, Wagner, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, and Angel Flores ran sixth in 9:38.94.

Highlight of the meet for the Kimball girls was the winning long jump of sophomore Hannah Biesecker who had a career best of 16'5.50" which is leading the District at the time of this writing. It would seem she has found herself in this event. Madison Biesecker also jumped well finishing fourth at 15'8.75". Hannah Biesecker also ran fourth in the 100 meters in 13.35, fourth in the 200 meters in 27.75, and and was fourth in the high jump at 4'8". Madison Biesecker was fifth in the high jump at 4'6",' was fifth in the 300 hurdles in 52.19.

Jannel Fiehtner was sixth in the triple jump at 32'6.25", Ali Hunsaker was sixth in the pole vault at 8'6", and the 4 x 400 relay team of Hunsaker, Alanna Kelsch, Alex Reader, and Kate Reader ran sixth in 4:46.56.

A good showing by some of the Longhorn tracksters after competing the night before at the Best of the West. They came right back to compete in the Bayard B-C-D meet on Friday.
