Another win for Kimball golf team at Scottsbluff

The Kimball High boy’s golf team had back-to-back team wins this week taking the Perkins County title during play last week and then capturing the Division Two championship of the Scottsbluff Invite at the Scottsbluff Country Club this past Monday.

The Longhorns took top honors with 349 with the Sidney JV runner up with 392, Mitchell 418, Morrill 415, Alliance JV 433, Gering JV 431, and Bayard 449. These were the teams with enough golfers to have team scores.

Jordan Greenwood captured his fourth individual medalist title of the season as well, winning out with a round of 39-39=78, six strokes better than the runner up round of 84 shot by a pair of Torrington golfers. Zane Anthony finished fifth with his round of 46-41=87, and Dillon Wise was sixth with his round of 43-46=89. Andrew McCloud shot 45-50=95, and placed eighth in the top 10. Izaac Reuter 52-51=103.

Coach Chad Wise commented “It was a great day for golf. I wasn’t happy with our scores. It was a perfect day and we should have scored better.”

Having said that, Coach Wise said he was happy for the win but wants to impress on his players to continue to give their best effort even when things are not going as well as they might like.

So far this season, Kimball has three championships and two runner up finishes. Greenwood has won four times and finished third once. Anthony has finished in the top ten four times and Wise has medaled all five tournaments.

The Horns are scheduled to play in the SPVA Tournament being hosted by Hershey this Friday (tomorrow), but this is a big question mark with the weather not looking too good. The Western Trails Conference Tournament, scheduled for Saturday (April 30), and being held at Kimball’s Four Winds Golf Course, has been rescheduled to May 5 and will be held in conjunction with the Kimball Invitational.
