Kimball fares well at their Federation tournament

Over 160 plus young wrestlers participated in the Kimball Invitational Federation Wrestling Tournament held this past Saturday at the Kimball High School. The Kimball club took home lots of honors and had a good turnout from their members according to coach Bob Culek.

Winning first place honors were Britton Culek, Mason Brown, Kylee Kirby, and Trey Schindler. Finishing 2nd were Logan Paxton, Troy Cook, and Cameron McGinnis.

Third place honors went to Austin Weiss, Kasyn Snyder, Matthew Johnson, Alex Newton, Ciena McKenzie, Hunter Funk, and James McGinnis. Taking fourth were James Tucker, Tyler McManigal, Damien Vandewater, Wyatt Cook and Brandon Paxton.

The Kimball Tournament was a final warmup for the District Tournament being held this Saturday, March 5, in Mitchell with the chance to qualify for the upcoming state tournament being held March 19 in Grand Island. Culek says he has lots of help coaching including Jim McGinnis, Dillon Snyder, Jason Hottell, Tyson Culek and Luke Kelley. The instruction and participation in the Federation programs is a step towards building the junior high and high school programs.
