FFA Alumni offers support

The Kimball FFA Alumni has a few secrets and they are chomping at the bit to tell.

Not only is Kimball’s alumni the oldest FFA Alumni chapter in Nebraska, they also have the largest number of lifetime alumni members of any chapter in the state.

This group does more than most know. They raise funds through suppers, product auctions and the ever-popular labor auction to grow the local FFA organization.

The Kimball FFA Alumni provides: college scholarships, money for conferences and leadership activities and grants for continuing supervised agricultural experiences, or SAEs and much more monetary support.

Financial support is not the only way the alumni supports current FFA students. The members of the alumni donate time, products and experience for the benefit of the entire organization.

They chaperone trips, assist with the county fair and hold their own progress show, which, according to alumni member Amber Wilke, has been larger than the Kimball/Banner County Fair in the past and they have hosted the District livestock judging contest annually for more than 20 years.

The members of the Kimball FFA Alumni jump in to help whenever help is needed, and while preparing for the initiation of new members, called green hands, this year the alumni put out an all-call for help getting official dress for an incoming FFA member.

This request for help reached not just alumni members, but also Kimball County High School alumni, various residents in the community and long-time Kimball business, LorRons Department Store. This young member received just what was needed and the outpouring of support from Kimball was as phenomenal as this revered alumni.
