Lady Cats have a tough week

The Banner County Lady Wildcats suffered back-to-back losses last week, first to South Platte followed by Sioux County.

Scoring was a big problem for the Banner County girls on Friday, Feb. 2, with just single digits for each of the Lady Wildcat scorers.

The effort was led by Emily Singleton with 7 points to her credit, including the sole trey for the Lady Cats. Singleton added a two-point field goal to that and hit 2/3 from the line.

MaKenna Dahlgrin followed closely, hitting three of eight attempted field goals, adding six to the board.

Paige Cross contributed five, shooting 2/7 from the inside and hitting one from the line. Shaylee White matched Cross’s five, netting 2/3 attempted two-pointers and one free throw while Savannah Jordan added three to the board, followed by Courtney Knisley and Jadyn Cross with two each.

White led rebounding, grabbing eight, all defensively, followed by Dahlgrin who pulled in seven, also all defense.

Paige Cross and White both racked up five personal fouls and Dahlgrin had four, putting the team in some foul trouble. Total fouls for the Lady Cats was 20 compared to 18 for their opponents.

Turnovers were high for the Banner County girls, with 28 to South Platte’s 17.

Following the close loss to South Platte the Banner County girls hosted Sioux County on Saturday, Feb. 6, and were plagued with foul trouble.

Scoring was led by Dahlgrin with 14, shooting 6/13 from the inside and 2/5 from the line, followed by Paige Cross with six points to her credit, netting 2/7 two-point field goals and 2/6 free throws.

Knisley added five, landing two of seven attempts from the inside and shooting 1/3 from the line while Jadyn Cross nailed the single trey for the team, adding three to the board, and White contributed two.

White led rebounding with nine to her credit as well as four assists, followed by Paige Cross and Dahlgrin with seven each. Jordan pulled down five, and Jadyn Cross with three. Singleton grabbed two and Bailey Underhill, one.

Dahlgrin was also credited with two blocks but racked up five personal fouls. White added four fouls while Singleton and Paige Cross each had three.

Stats for Sioux County were not available.
