Coyotes fall to Minatare

The Potter-Dix Coyotes, 6-9 for the season, lost to the Minatare Indians, 8-6, for a conference game on Saturday, Jan. 30, in the second of three games the two teams will play against one another.

The Coyotes got off to a strong start scoring 13 in the first quarter and holding their opponents to seven. Roles reversed in the second quarter with the Indians gaining double digits, 11, to Potter-Dix’s six.

The Coyotes came back from halftime to add another six to the board but they were outplayed by the Mnatare boys, who added 10 to their board.

The Potter-Dix boys rallied in the final quarter, but were answered point-for-point with 14 for each team.

Leading the Coyotes was senior Coby Hicks with 19 points to his credit, shooting 9/12 from inside the arch for a 75 percent field goal average. Hicks landed one of three attempts at the line and pulled in seven rebounds.

Fellow Potter-Dix senior, Cole Christensen added nine points of his own, landing 4/11 field goal attempts and one of two from the line. Christensen led the Coyotes in rebounds, grabbing nine, and adding two steals for the effort.

Coyote Sam Bogert contributed six points, followed by Noah Nelson and Dylan Nielsen with two each and Kelsey Rozelle added one to the board.

Rozelle, Nielsen and Bogert each pulled down four rebounds and Rozelle added four assists and three steals.
