LTTE: Setting the record straight

I would like to set the record straight on the article in last week’s Observer.

It was titled “ I-80 emergency leads to methamphetamine arrest”. The article states that “Both the Kimball County Ambulance along with the Dix First responders were paged to assist. Although they were paged on two separate occasions first responders out of Dix never responded to the call.” I felt that this was biased on the source’s part. Dix Fire and Rescue is a volunteer service, as all are in this area. They take time away from whatever they are doing to go help others, regardless of the weather or time of day. Because of the size of the community we can’t all work in or around the Village. When we are at work away, yes we cannot respond. We have never in 25 years that I have been a part of this organization never said “I DON’T WANT TO GO TO THIS ONE.” We have tried to stay active in the community and keep it a nice place to live. I personally don’t want people thinking that if they call on us that we won’t come. Believe it or nor that time may come because of volunteers or the lack of them. Hopefully this will not happen in my lifetime. Thanks.
