Kimball Speech Team sees much success

The Kimball High School speech team has begun their competitive season with quite a bit of success, according to coach Jenn Dillinger.

The team's success began with the first meet of the year, in Scottsbluff on Jan. 9, where they won the Class C/D championship.

Individual awards at that event were given to Connor Moore, 6th place in humorous prose, Kiersten Anderson for 5th place in entertainment speaking and Paycen Harroun won 4th place in entertainment speaking.

At the same invitational, Audrey McDowall, Kaden Adrian, Nicholas Thomas-Lewis, Leisha Casimiro and Taylor Muldoon placed 4th in Oral Interpretation of Drama, Leisha Casimiro won 2nd place in informative speaking and Nicholas Thomas-Lewis placed 6th in persuasive speaking and 2nd place in poetry interpretation.

The team followed with a second place finish on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the speech meet in Gordon.

Individual awards went to Tristen Cook, Kiersten Anderson, Paycen Harroun, Sebastian Portillo and Audrey Day for 6th place in OID, Paycen Harroun took 6th place in Entertainment, Kiersten Anderson placed 5th in Entertainment, Audrey Day won 4th place in Humorous Prose, and Leisha Casimiro took 2nd place in Informative Speaking.

The Kimball team won the Class C/D Championship at Gering on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Individual awards in the Honors division went to Kennedy Lewis for 5th place in Serious Prose and 4th place in Extemporaneous Speaking, Kiersten Anderson took 4th place in Entertainment Speaking, and Paycen Harroun placed 3rd in Entertainment speaking.

Additionally, the Oral Interpretation of Drama team, consisting of Tristen Cook, Audrey Day, Sebastian Portillo, Mikylah Seeley, and Paycen Harroun placed 3rd.

In the Champion division, awards went to Taylor Muldoon for 7th place in Poetry, Nichololas Thomas-Lewis for 6th place in Poetry and 5th place in Persuasive Speaking and Leisha Casimiro placed 2nd in Informative Speaking.
