Split weekend for Kimball JV

It was a split weekend for the Kimball High junior varsity basketball teams with both the girls and boys dropping close contests to Bridgeport, but both girls and boys getting wins over Gordon-Rushville.

The Kimball girls lost to Bridgeport on Friday evening 34-31 with Hannah Biesecker high with 13 points with 1 trey. Justine Heeg had 6 with a trey, Shauntae Daily 4, Kaylyn Nelson 3 with a trey, Alexis Lulf 3 with a trey, and Madison Wynne 2. Kimball’s cause was hurt by 5/23 foul shooting.

Kimball bounced back Saturday afternoon to win 44-40 over Gordon-Rushville with Heeg high with 11 including 1 trey. Lulf had 9 with a trey, Biesecker 7, Wynne 3, Daily 6, Nelson 5, Lacy Klinkhammer 1, and Hailey Paxton 2.

The Kimball JV boys also lost to Bridgeport by a 3 point margin of 39-36. Brandon Barker had 11 for Kimball with 1 trey, Brady Kilgore finished with 10, Izaak Reuter 5 with a trey, Grant Hickman 4, Corey Travis and Kale Bush had 3 each.

Logan Nichols tallied 17 for the winners and Connor Wiggins had 10.

Gordon-Rushville actually had a 7 point lead at half time of their game with the Kimball JV, up 28-21 at half time, but Kimball out scored the visitors 19-5 in both of the second half quarters to secure a 59-38 win. Brandon Barker scored 14 in his two quarters of play. Kilgore had 11, Hickman 9 with 3 treys, Reuter 8, Bush 6, Colton Mielke 5, Travis 3, Ryan Soper 3.
