Lady Coyotes remain undefeated

The Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes remain undefeated after a successful weekend on the court. First the Potter-Dix girls hosted Bayard’s Lady Tigers on Jan. 8 and ran away with their sixth consecutive win.

The Potter-Dix girls racked up sixteen points in the first quarter while holding their opponents to six and followed up in the second quarter with an additional 18 but allowed the Lady Tigers just eight.

Coming back from half-time the Lady Coyotes added 15 in the third quarter and twelve in the final but held the Lady Tigers to eight and 10.

Leading the Lady Coyotes were Alexus Rozelle, junior, and Audrey Juelfs, sophomore, each with 13 points to their credit, with five two-point field goals and with a trey. Trinity Langley closely followed with 12 points of her own while teammates DawsonSharman, Anna McLaughlin and Payge Hoffman each added six.

Courtney Lewis contributed four points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal and two deflections while freshman Brooke Moench added one point to the board, grabbed one rebound and added one assist and one block.

Langley pulled down nine rebounds, added three steals, one block and one deflection followed by Rozelle with eight rebounds, one assist, three steals and three deflections.

Juelfs grabbed seven rebounds, and added seven assists, seven steals and two deflections while Hoffman pulled down five rebounds and contributed two assists, three steals, and one deflection.

Potter-Dix turnovers were kept to 23 and the team racked up 19 personal fouls.

Following their home win the Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes traveled to Big Springs for their match against the South Platte Lady Blue Knights on Jan. 9 and came home with their seventh big win.

The Lady Coyotes opened the game with a bang, scoring 14 in the first quarter and 13 in the second, but allowing their hosts just five and zero respectively.

The Potter-Dix girls returned for the second half of the game scoring 13 in the third quarter and allowing the Lady Knights six.

The South Platte girls rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 and holding Potter-Dix to 10, but their valiant effort wasn’t enough to pull off a win and the Lady Coyotes remain undefeated with a 50-22 win.

Trinity Langley was named player of the game and with good reason. Langley led the Lady Coyotes with 15 points, nailing 86 percent of her attempted field goals.

Langley shot 1/1 from the three-point court, nailed five of six two-point field goals and shot 2/4 at the line.

Payge Hoffman added eight to the board, followed by Brooke Glass with six, Anna McLaughlin and Dawson Sharman each with five.

Audrey Juelfs and Alexus Rozelle each contributed four points towards the win.

Langley, Rozelle and Hoffman each pulled down seven rebounds, followed by Juelfs with four and McLaughlin with three while Sharman, Glass and Brooke Moench each grabbed one.

Sharman added six steals, two assists and three deflections while Juelfs added seven assists, two steals one block and five deflections.

Personal fouls and turnovers were both kept down, with 15 each.
