Potter-Dix wins MAC One-Act competition

The Potter-Dix High One Act team earned first place at the Minuteman Activities Conference Play Production Contest on Nov. 23.

The conference's eight schools had teams competing in Potter, where three judges scored each production.

Leyton High took home second place and Banner County rounded out the top three. Creek Valley finished in fourth place.

In individual awards, Dawson Sharman, from Potter-Dix, and Jaedon Wann, from Leyton, were named the competition's best actors.

Justice Palmer, Audrey Juelfs and Keverett Rusk, from Potter-Dix, along with Nash Leef and Keith Everitt, from Creek Valley High, received honorable mentions for their performances.

Potter-Dix's success stems from a school-wide attitude, the team's sponsor, Beth Bogert, wrote in an email.

"We have very high expectations for our students in all areas," she said. "Our kids know that we expect a lot out of them in the classroom, in sports, music and on the stage."

And those efforts were on display Monday.

"I attribute our success to hard-working and dedicated kids," Bogert said. "They never cease to amaze me in all they do."

Potter-Dix presented "Eurydice" by Sarah Ruhl, Leyton performed a comedic adaptation of Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest," written by I.E. Clark, and Creek Valley selected "Hero on Trial" by John F. Kendall.
