The Banner County volleyball team picked up a pair of wins last Tuesday before dropping a tough homecoming contest to Arthur County.
The Lady Wildcats opened a home triangular last Tuesday with a 25-17 and 25-20 win against Garden County
MaKenna Dahlgrin led the team offensively with six kills and a block. Danielle Flick led the team behind the serving line with two aces, while Paige Cross had a team-high six assists. Savannah Jordan led the team defensively with eight digs.
Banner County ended its night with a 25-13, 16-25 and 25-11 win against Minatare.
Dahlgrin once again led the team offensively, this time with 11 kills. The Lady Wildcats had a stellar night behind the serving line with 16 aces, led by Cross with five. Flick, Jordan and Dahlgrin each had three aces.
Cross also led the team with seven digs and 10 assists.
The Lady Wildcats wrapped up the week on Friday with a 25-9, 25-16 and 25-18 defeat against Arthur County.
In game two, Banner went up 6-2 early behind White's strong serve before Arthur came back for an 11-6 lead. The visiting team pulled ahead 13-9, before Jordan's kill cut the deficit to 17-11. Arthur led 19-13 before a Flick ace and a White kill made the Banner deficit 19-15, but the visiting team pulled away for the 25-16 win.
Arthur went up 2-0 early in game two, before a Cross kill knotted things up and a kill from Jordan put Banner up 4-3. A Dahlgrin kill put Banner up 6-4, followed by a White kill that gave the Lady Wildcats a 9-7 lead. Jordan's ace one point later gave banner a 10-7 advantage.
Arthur slowly pulled its way back into the game and tied it at 15-all, before a Dahlgrin kill gave Banner a one point lead. The visiting team outscored Banner 9-2 down the stretch to win by a three-game sweep.
