Garrett, Golding win golf tourney

The two-person team of Ty Garrett and Gene Golding won top honors at the Four Winds Fund Raiser Golf Tournament held this past Sunday. In the third year of this annual affair it has grown in popularity with 52 golfers, or 26 teams, taking part this year.

The format originated from 20 years ago by Four Winds Pro Chad Wise and his Dad, and still has special meaning to Chad, who played this year with his son Dillon. Each team can choose when and where to use 6 scramble shots, 6 alternate player shots, and 6 best ball shots. It is also handicapped and older players play from advanced tees.

Ty Garrett has been on top of his game all season and just recently won the Four Winds Open Tournament. On this day, Garrett and Golding won easily with a 58.2 handicapped round. The runner up spot was held by Chuck Christensen and Henry Heeg shooting 62.7 Third place went to Kevin Thomas and Randy Bohac with 64.3. Fourth place was Kelly Garrett and Doug Lukassen with 66, and fifth place was Roger Dohse and John Fiehtner with 67. Henry Heeg won the chipping contest and in addition there were flag prizes awarded on several holes.

The golfers were treated to a very warm day but had to contend with some pretty brisk winds. Along with the good turn out of local golfers, there were several out of town entries as well and it appeared that everyone involved enjoyed the format, and the day. Half of all the entry money goes to a fund for improvements for the Four Winds Course with half being paid back in prize money.

Four Winds Pro, Chad Wise, thanked all golfers who took part in the day and also gave a special thank you to these businesses who donated to the fund.

SPECIAL NOTE: For the balance of the season, the 18 hole fee at the Four Wins has been set at just $20 per player.
