Kimball school to hold public forum Oct. 21

The opportunity to listen to community priorities and expectations has been scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, by the Kimball Board of Education. The public session will take place at 901 S. Nadine St., the Kimball Jr./Sr. High School Student Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The community discussion will help formulate a vision of the future, and identify goals and strategies necessary to move the district forward to meet the challenges of the future. Items to be discussed include the strengths, accomplishments and challenges of the school district, and the vision and expectations for the schools and the goals and objectives necessary to enhance the community and prepare the students served.

Specific participants in the community engagement have been invited by the district for two reasons: to ensure that a broad cross-section of interests, backgrounds and perspectives are included and to ensure that board members are able to hear from all participants in a purposeful and efficient manner. The school is inviting staff members, parents, students, community leaders and other interested members of the public to work together with the school so that it can effectively plan for the future of the district and students. Any patron wishing to attend the session or to submit written comments that will be considered as part of the process is encouraged to do so. The district must receive written comments prior to the start of the meeting.

The Kimball Community Engagement is sponsored by the Nebraska Association of School Boards, Nebraska Education Television, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, and Nebraska Loves Public Schools. The event will be facilitated by Marcia Herring, NASB director of board leadership.
