Kimball volleyball rolls to 3-0 win at Burns

The Kimball varsity volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win at Burns last Thursday in its only action of the week.

The Lady Longhorns won 25-14, 25-18 and 25-17 to improve to 11-4 on the season. The Kimball junior varsity and freshman teams also picked up wins at Burns.

"Both Coach (Erin) Monheiser and myself were very pleased with all the girls' plays at Burns," said Kimball volleyball coach Jeri Ferguson. "It was great to sweep them because it doesn't happen very often. The freshmen have improved a great deal and we are excited about that. They continue to work hard and practice and we loved how they played. The junior varsity got back on the winning track and more importantly showed some improvements in some specific things that we've been working on.

"It was very good to get back into the win column for varsity as well. They took control of the match and kept it throughout all three of the sets. For us coaches, the fun thing to see is how all the girls are improving and how the practices get more and more competitive all the time."

Kimball's varsity volleyball team won all three sets they played, with the final scores being 25-14, 25-18 and 25-17.

Madie Snyder was the leader in service points with a total of 15. Ali Hunsaker was close behind her with a total of 14, and Madison Biesecker scored 12.

Danika Daum led the team in kills with 15, followed by Biesecker with 10 and Raelynn Hinton with eight. Daum also led Kimball in blocks, with seven total. Biesecker had a team-high 18 assists, while Daum added 12.

The Kimball JV team picked up a 25-19 and 25-15 win at Burns.

Justine Heeg scored 10 service points to lead the team. Kaitlin Wurdeman had nine service points, followed by Hannah Biesecker with eight service points.

The Kimball freshman team won with the final scores of the sets being 25-21 and 25-19. Madison Wynne scored 10 service points to lead the team, while Hailey Paxton and Sheridan Magninie both had five service points.

After Tuesday's triangular in Bayard, the Lady Longhorns return to action Thursday when they host Morrill in JV and varsity matches.
