Kimball boys finish seventh, girls take 11th place at Gothenburg Invitational

The Kimball boys cross country team finished seventh and the girls placed 11th at the Gothenburg Invitational last week.

"We were pleased with how are runners competed at Gothenburg, especially Brandon (Barker) for finishing 10th," Kimball cross country coach Tiffany Johnson said. "Gothenburg allowed us to see some of the schools that we will run against at districts. We are looking forward to the SPVA and WTC meets this Thursday and Friday as it will allow us to see more of our district schools and where are runners are at."

Brandon Barker finished 10th with a time of 17:42 to lead Kimball at the meet. Zachary Wagner finished 26th with a time of 18:25, followed by Kaden Adrian in 71st with a time of 19:55.

Up next was Joel Evertson with a time of 20:06 and a 75th place finish. After him was Nicholas Thomas-Lewis with a time of 20:16 and an 81st place finished, followed by Thomas Lenzen in 100th place with a time of 21:03. Garrett Pedersen was up next with a time of 22:17 and a 132nd place finish, Devin Gardner finished 161st in 23:41, Sebastian Portillo finished 168th in 24:45 and Grant Golding took 174th in 25:43.

Lexington won the 18-team race with 27 points, followed by Holdredge at 39 points and Minden with 40 points. John Mark Shields of Lexington breezed past the competition to win the individual title in 16:34, more than 40 seconds in front of second place finisher Taye Collicott of McCook.

The Kimball girls team finished 11th in a 12-team race and was led by Kailey Dickerson, who finished 49th in 24:09.

Up next for Kimball was Arica McCloud with a total time of 26:34 and a 67th place finish.

Raylynn Soper finished 69th with a time of 26:46, Kennedy Lewis was next with a time of 28:31 and a 78th place finish, Monica Wasielewski finished 79th in 28:44 and Patricia Casimiro had a time of 32:54 and finished 90th.
