Gifford pleased with Banner County's initial cross country meet

Banner County opened its cross country season last Friday at Gering, and coach Kari Gifford was pleased with her team’s initial efforts.

Courtney Knisley finished 45th in the varsity girls race with a time of 24:43, while Josh Boston finished 95th in the varsity boys race in 26:14.

“I was pleased with their performances on Friday,” Gifford said. “It’s good to get the first competition behind us and have some idea of where we are at. They both are focusing on what needs to be done to see improvement.”

Banner County also had four junior high harriers in Friday’s race. On the boys side, Riley Little finished 19th in 13:03, Gregory Blickensderfer took 36th place in 13:42 and Avery Wicker finished 74th in 17:44. Kylie Lohrer took 47th in 15:51 in the junior high girls division.

Banner County’s next meet is Friday in Kimball. The cross country meet starts at 1 p.m. at Four Winds Golf Course.
