Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Plenty of entertainment at the county fair

Cowboy wit, classical country and a billboard charted hit titled “You Can Leave.” All this and more for two nights of entertainment at the Kimball-Banner County Fair.

The Flying W Wranglers will kick off the shows on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., at the Kimball Fairgrounds.

For more than 63 years the Flying W Wranglers have been performing their mix of classic country, western swing and gospel, making them the second oldest Western music group in the world, according to the group’s website.

The local fair crowd is sure to enjoy not only their music, but also their cowboy wit, as this group has been enjoyed at premier American venues such as the Grand Ole Opry and Carnegie Hall.

On Saturday, following the PRCA rodeo at the Kimball Fairgrounds, Lexi Larsen, a native of western Nebraska, will perform at the Kimball Event Center beginning at 9 p.m.

Larsen has built a following based on the Colgate Country Showdown and the Galaxy of Stars Search.

She recently released her debut album Good Memories with her first single “You Can Leave” which hit the Billboard County chart.

The album, funded through Kickstarter, paired her with some of Nashville’s greatest musicians and features self-penned songs like “He’s on a John Deere,” and “Something About A Sunday,” according to her official website.

Larsen has opened for the legendary Ronnie Milsap, Phil Vassar, Emerson Drive and Restless Heart, and she performed at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas last December.
