It's a Greenwood win at the Father's Day Scramble

The father and sons trio of Kenny Greenwood, Jeffery Greenwood, and Jordan Greenwood captured the championship of this year's Four Winds Father's Day Three Person Golf Scramble held this past weekend.

By no means was it an easy win for the Greenwood family as they battled it out with a Sidney based team of Chuck Haupt, son Morgan Haupt, and Lance Juelfs. The Haupt team shot the low round on Saturday with a 58 while Greenwoods had a first day round of 59. On Sunday the Greenwoods came back with a 57 and Haupts shot 59 to leave them tied at 116 forcing a playoff to determine the champions. It took just one hole as both teams went off number one, with a good following, to the number one green. Dad Greenwood put his approach shot about five feet from the pin and Jordan sank the putt for the win as the Haupt team took a par and the Greenwoods a birdie.

Nice weather both days and the golf course in it's usual perfectly groomed condition awaited the 33 teams that took part in this year's annual affair. There were 7 teams in the championship flight with three teams placing in all flights. Third place in the championship flight went to another Sidney based team of Yahn, Yahn and Nelson with their two day total of 119.

Winners of the 1st flight was the family team of Tom Southard, Doug Southard, and Steven Burback shooting 64-64=128. Another family team that returned to Kimball in traditional fashion finished 2nd as Pete Andersen, Tom Andersen, and Matt Andersen shot 64-66=130, and 3rd place in the 1st flight went to yet another family trio of Chad Wise and his children Dillon and Payton winning by score card playoff after shooting 67-64=131 to win over two other teams with that total.

Kimball's Bob Barrett teamed up with his son-in-law and grandson of Sidney to win the 2nd flight with rounds of 68-65=133 as Barrett-Birner-Birner won their flight by two strokes over the next two teams who tied at 135. Second place by score card playoff went to a Sidney based family team of Wamsley-Wamsley-Wamsley shooting 70-65=135, and third place went to the team of Bill Wallace, Pat Cordell, and Shane Hays with their round of 68-67=135.

As mentioned, with the weather quite nice, and the golf course in excellent condition thanks to Jeremy Williams and his staff, and with those in charge including Pat O'Brien, Randy Bohac, and Tyler Garrett as committee members for the sponsoring Thursday Men's Golf League, and with Four Winds Pro Chad Wise over seeing all operations, the tournament was deemed a huge success. And the tradition will carryon with everyone waiting for next

It is especially gratifying to see the family groupings as they put their teams together and a fun weekend for all family members as they follow their teams from hole to hole.
