Kimball golfers win at Scottsbluff tournament

The Kimball High Boys Golf Team shot their low team round of the season to finish third at the Morrill Tournament this past week. Bridgeport won the team title with 353 strokes followed by Chadron with 362, Kimball 376, Crawford 393, Gordon-Rushville 401, Hemingford 429, Gering JV 456, Mitchell 459, and Morrill 469.

Keenan Johnson of Chadron was medalist with his round of 81. Eric Stevens of Bridgeport wound up 2nd with his 82 after winning a score card playoff from Kimball's Jordan Greenwood who also shot 82 with his nine hole scores of 40-42=82. Kyle Spicer shot his best round of the season going 48-46=94 to finish in the top ten medal group in 10th place. Spencer Shields also had his best round too date at 47-53=100, Andrew McCloud stayed consistent at 52-48=100, and Kole Bush shot 56-48=104.

Just one week later, the Kimball team bettered that season low score while winning the Division II at the Scottsbluff Country Club Tournament this past Monday. With Jordan Greenwood securing his second medalist win of the season with his low round of 75 shooting 11 strokes better than the runnerup golfer. Kimball won their first team title with their round of 374. Sidney JV shot 384, with Chadron JV at 386, Gering JV at 444, Mitchell at 459 and Alliance JV at 486.

An interesting round for the talented sophomore as Greenwood has been in the top three every time out this season. In his round of 36-39=75, he had a triple bogey and 5 bogeys, but he also carded 3 birdies and 1 eagle! Anyone who has played the Scottsbluff Country Club course knows how tough it can be, but Jordan battled it and won! His score would have placed him second in the Division I where John Murdock shot 73.

Kyle Spicer joined Greenwood in the top ten medal group as his round of 47-48=95 was good for 7th place. Kole Bush shot 50-51=101, Michael Ferguson 56-47=103 and Joel Evertson 70-69=139.
