Potter-Dix had some strong showings against mostly larger schools Saturday at the E. Lee Todd Invitational held at Grant.
The Lady Coyotes finished sixth and the Coyotes took seventh in the nine-team field. Ogallala won both the boys and girls events.
"I was pleased with the way the girls and boys competed against the larger schools," Potter-Dix coach Bob Hilpert said. "We had a few ineligibles that hurt us, and Regyn Hicks sprained her ankle Friday night at practice and she was only able to compete in the 4x100 relay. Alexus (Rozelle) continues to be strong in the throws, and we are still fine tuning her releases, as in both the shot and the discus, she seems to be releasing a little low. Jake (Johnson) has just been a strong and focused runner, and he received many accolades from the coaches from the other schools when he was running."
Jake Johnson was the lone individual winner for Potter-Dix. The senior won the 1600 meter run in 4:52.90
Cooper Hicks finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles in 43.3 seconds, while Coby Hicks took fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 11-06.
The Coyotes were once again strong in the relays. They won the 4x800 meter relay for the third time in three tries this season. The team of Johnson, Samuel Bogert, Cameron Purcell and Cooper Hicks took first in the event in 8:42. The Potter-Dix team of Cooper Hicks, Johnson, Bogert and Purcell also took second in the 4x400 relay in 3:40.10. The Coyote squad of Johnson, Bogert, Purcell and Cooper Hicks also finished fourth in the 4x100 meter relay in 48.10.
Alexus Rozelle had a strong day in the throws to lead the Lady Coyotes. She finished second in the discus with a throw of 118-01, and also took second in the shot put with a throw of 36-06.5. Also in field events, Anna McLaughlin finished third in the high jump at 4-10.
Payge Hoffman performed well in both hurdles events. She finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.70, and took fifth place in the 300 meter hurdles in 54.4 seconds.
