Banner County, Kimball teams have strong showing at junior high quiz bowl tournament

Two local schools teams had strong showings at the junior high quiz bowl tournament hosted March 23 by Banner County.

Kimball won the eighth grade bracket in the tournament with 295 points. Banner County finished third with 285 points after dropping a tiebreaker to Leyton, which finished second. The tiebreaker used was which team correctly answered the most 15 point questions.

In the seventh grade bracket, Banner County, Hemingford and Bridgeport each tied for the top spot with 275 points. Hemingford was declared the winner via a tiebraker since its team correctly answered the most 15 point questions. That left Banner County and Bridgeport tied, and Banner County won the second place tiebreaker on the total number of games won since the two teams answered the same amount of 15 point questions.

A total of 12 schools participated in the tournament.
