Arthur L. Heim

Arthur L. Heim, 73, of Potter, died at the Aurora South Medical Center in Aurora, Colo., on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014.

Arthur “Art” Lee Heim was born in Moundridge, Kan., on March 29, 1941, the son of Carl and Hattie (Hickman) Heim. He moved with his family at an early age to Friend, Neb., where he received his education. He moved to Kimball in 1956 and began working in the oil fields.

Art was married to Melva Roach in Geneva, Neb., on Oct. 17, 1956. He farmed in the Kimball area and also worked as a roughneck for 25 years. Art received his degree in criminal justice through correspondence from Hartford College. He loved telling stories of his life in the oil field. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Melva Heim, of Potter; son Allen (Pam) Heim of Kimball; daughters, Pam (Richard) Palmer of Love Lady, La., Theresa Wessels of Wisconsin, Dodi McCloud and fiancé Kevin Burch of Nashville, Tenn., and Derede (Matt) Darden of Pine Bluffs, Wyo .; brothers Ronald Heim of El Paso, Texas, Marlin (Saba) Heim of Anchorage, Alaska., and Orlo (Linda) Heim of Anchorage, Alaska; sister Sharon (Virgil) Doss of Killeen, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger Heim.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
