Grubbs finishes third to lead Wildcats at own tournament

Garrett Grubbs placed third for the second straight meet to lead the Banner County wrestling team at its own invitational tournament on Saturday.

Grubbs, competing in the 152 weight class, opened with a win over Zach Grumbles of Hemingford and then defeated Destin Standley of Minatare. He lost to Javy Rojo of Holyoke in his third match.

In the championship bracket, Grubbs lost in the first round to Nathan Fleecs of Sutherland. He topped Colin Hendrickson of Bayard in the third place match.

Banner's Brandon Blickensderfer also wrestled Saturday in the 106 weight class. He lost to wrestlers from Sutherland, Holyoke, Bayard, Crawford and Garden County.
