Kimball runners race to personal best times at Gothenburg

The Kimball High Cross Country Team ran at Gothenburg this past week and the coaches were elated that every runner ran a season best personal best time. In a large field of 24 teams and l45 boys, Ryan Muneio broke under the 18 minute mark to run a best time of 17:59 for 15th place and a medal. Freshman Kaden Adrian ran 67th in 20:34, Rowdy Keller 92nd in 21:16, Joel Evertson 93rd in 21:18, Jordan Greenwood 100th in 21:35, and Joseph Pagan 140th in 27:09.

In the girl's division the Kimball team was without top runner Kailey Dickerson who was sick, but Ivana Valle ran her best time of 23:02 to finish 37th in the field of III runners and moved into the #6 spot on the Kimball High record sheet for the 5,000 meter run. Taylor Walker-Muldoon ran 84th in 26:54, Alexis Gawith was 77th in 25:51, Arica McCloud 88th in 27:13, Christianne Clower 94th in 28:59, Jessica Hanks 96th in 29:10, Olivia Ryschon 100th in 29:32, and Kennedy Lewis 101 in 29:47.

The Kimball coaches said they were happy with the way the kids ran and the kids were also quite happy with their best times. "This is what it's all about," said coach Laurie Janicek as she talked about the Kimball runners improving as the season is fast drawing to a close with the two conference meets remaining and then district and a chance to qualify for the state race. Kimball runs at Grant today (Thursday) in the South Platte Valley Association Conference race, and then the following day on Friday is the Western Conference meet in Gordon. A tough back-to-back format for Kimball. The district race is back at Grant on October 16.
