Muneio double medal winner past week

Kimball High senior Ryan Muneio picked up two more medals in cross country running this past week as he ran 13th at Ogallala with a time of 18:46 and was 12th at Scottsbluff in 18:55. While he was Kimball's lone medal winner at the Ogallala Invite, the Longhorns had four medal winners at the Panhandle Classic race held at the Scottsbluff Country Club Course where they award medals to the top 25 runners in each division. Joining Muneio at Scottsbluff were Brandon Barker in 21st place in the boy's division with his time of 19:42, while Kailey Dickerson ran 17th in the girl's race with a time of 24:05 and Ivana Valle finished 25th in 25:33.

Other runners and their respective times for Kimball at the Scottsbluff race were Jordan Greenwood 45th in 21:48, Kaden Adrian 46th in 21:51, Rowdy Keller 55th in 22:36, Joel Evertson 56th in 23:13, and Joseph Pagan 75th in 28:16. For the girls, Taylor Walker-Muldoon ran 39th in 29:58, Arica McCloud 40th in 30:10, Jessica Hanks 42nd in 30:52, Olivia Ryschon 43rd in 31:00, and Kennedy Lewis 44th in 31:33. In the junior high race Beau Hanks ran 63rd in 15:50, Jordan Chavez 61st in 15:44, Zavyer White 73rd in 16:05, and Alex Flores 86th in 17:34. The junior high runners ran 3,000 meters compared to 5,000 meters for the high school runners.

Kimball finished 7th in the team standings of both the boys and girls races at the Ogallala Invite with Muneio's top 15 medal finish the highlight of the day for coach Tiffany Johnson. The Longhorn boys had a limited number at Ogallala with only four runners including Greenwood running 51st in 21:43, Kaden Adrian 46th in 21:32, and Evertson 64th in 22:36. Dickerson led the Kimball girls with a 29th placing in 24:23, Valle ran 36th in 25:07, Walker-Muldoon 59th in 28:38, Alexis Gawith 64th in 29:02, McCloud 66th in 29:22, Ryschon 72nd in 30:31, Christianne Clower 75th in 31:44, and Kennedy Lewis 76th in 31:46. In the junior high division White ran 54th in 15:50 and Flores 56th in 16:27.

Three races remaining before the district meet on October 16 at Grant including today's (Thursday) race at Gothenburg with a start time of 2 p.m. On October 9 the Horns will run in the South Platte Valley Association race in Grant and the following day on October 10 they run in the Western Trails Conference race in Gordon with an 11 a.m. start time.
