Muneio medals at Alliance meet

Ryan Muneio improved his season best time by over a full minute in running Kimball High's best time at the Alliance Cross Country Invite this past Saturday. Muneio ran 18:20 over the 5K course to earn the 8th place medal in the boys varsity division. Although Muneio was the lone medal winner for Kimball, there were some other highlights and improved times for the Longhorns.

The Kimball girls finished fourth in the team standings with 64 points, led by Kailey Dickerson finishing 20th with a time of 23:54, and Ivana Valle in 23rd in 24:35. Both improved over last week at the Kimball Invite. Alexis Gawith ran 31st in 27:09, Arica McCloud 34th in 29:37, and Taylor Walker-Muldoon 35th in 30:09.

Gering won the girls team title with 13 points followed by Chadron with 26, and Bridgeport 59. Celeste Cardona of Mitchell was the individual champion with her exceptional time of 19:44, holding off Gering's Rebekah Rawlings who ran 2nd in 19:49. Bayard's Jessi Smith, who was expected to battle for the 1st place medal ran third in 20:11.

Scottsbluff did not send their first team of varsity boys to Alliance but were still able to win the team title with 37 points, edging Gering with 40 and Mitchell with 46. Behind the top three were Alliance with 61, Bridgeport 90, Chadron 101, Sidney 133, Kimball 141, Hemingford 144, and Gordon-Rushville 149. Edward Grentz of Mitchell was the individual champion with a time of 17:37 with Xavier Arellano of Gering runnerup in 17:47.

Ryan Muneio, as mentioned, led Kimball with his 8th place time of 18:20. Kaden Adrian ran 45th in 21:29, Rowdy Keller 48th in 21:51, Brandon Barker 49th in 22:05, Jordan Greenwood 53rd in 22:19, and Joel Everston 55th in 22:53. Keller, Evertson, and Adrian all improved their times as well.

Kimball had no junior varsity boys at Alliance but ran two girls in the JV race with Jessica Hanks finishing 29th in 29:58 and Kennedy Lewis 31st in 30:42. Kimball also had two junior high boys in the 3,000 meter race with Zavyer White 61st in 17:24, and Alex Flores 63rd in 17:53.

The Kimball team was to run at the Scottsbluff this past Tuesday evening and will run at the Ogallala Invite this afternoon, (Thursday, Sept. 25) with race time set for 4 p.m.
