Walker continues her medal streak

Kimball High senior Jaycie Walker picked up 2 more medals to keep her streak alive at 4 as she captured 2nd place at the Kimball Invitational Golf Tournament finishing 1 stroke out of first with her round of 103, and then took 5th place at the Creek valley Tournament with her round of 102. As reported last week, Miss Walker put in a summer of hard work trying to improve her game and it is certainly paying off. Team mate Kallie Bush shot 128 at Kimball but had her best outing of the young season at Creek Valley shooting 109 to finish just 1 stroke out of the money.

Only three teams had enough players to battle for team honors at the Kimball Invite with the Sidney JV team winning with 495, followed by Perkins County with 545, and Bayard 553. Miranda Musfelt of Mitchell was individual medalist with 102, followed by Walker with her 103. The remainder of the top ten medal group were Cassidy Mitchell-Bridgeport 105, Tessa DouglasBayard 114, Kassiday Hernandez-Bridgeport 115, Tabetha Hayes- Creek Valley 117, Kyla Bruggeman-Perkins County 118, Amanda Reichert Perkins-County 119, Dru Rowan-Sidney JV 120, Kassie Manx-Bridgeport 122.

At the Creek Valley Tournament in Chappell, Dundy County Stratton won the team title with 422, Bayard shot 465, Hershey 474, Perkin County 510, and Mullen 567. Rebecca Lorens of Dundy County was medalist with her 95, Kassie Manx-Bridgeport shot 96, Myranda Musfelt-Mitchell 97, and Payton Zarkowski-Dundy County 99 to finish ahead of Walker.

Coach Nora Robinson will take her two senior golfers to the Mitchell Tournament today (Thursday-Sept. 11) for a 9 a.m. tee time, and continues to work with and ready her four new freshman players to the game before putting them into competition. They have been attending the tournaments and following along to see how tournament play actually works.

On September 16 the Kimball ladies will be in action at the Gering Tournament.
