Nelson Evans

Nelson Evans, 62 of Kearney died Wednesday, January 29th at the St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Society in Kearney. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with the Rev. Robert Perry officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

Nelson Dale Evans was born January 19, 1952 in Kimball, NE to Leonard “Red” and Belle (Caddy) Evans. He attended school in Kimball and graduated from Kimball High School in 1970. On May 12, 1973, Nelson was united in marriage to Deon Thompson in Great Falls, Montana. He worked many years for Continental Emsco, Petroleum Inc., and Oilfield Pipe and Supply. Most recently he managed Holiday Restaurant and Lounge and the Kimball Country Club. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Gabe Evans and wife, Hannah of Kearney; grandchildren, Karter and Kollins Evans of Kearney; sister, Dorothy Koob and husband, Gunther of Gering, NE; brother, Larry Evans and wife, Linda of Nixa, MO; many nieces and nephews. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Duane Evans.
