Kimball golfers shoot season low at Mitchell

The Kimball High girls’ golf team shot their lowest score of the season at the Mitchell Tournament this past week, taking third place in the team standings with their 422 team total. Chadron took top team honors with a 401 followed by Bridgeport with 407. Behind Kimball in team scoring were Sidney JV with 432, Gering JV 504, and Alliance 537.

Emily Snyder of Mitchell took top individual honors on her home course with a round of 87, but Kimball senior Brooke Hager took runner-up honors in shooting her low round of the season to-date with an 89.

Brianna Jones continues to score low and made the top ten medal group with her 8th place finish shooting her season best round of 99. All team members showed improvement as Hannah Walker tallied a 113, Kallie Bush 121, and Jaycie Walker 132.

Kimball traveled to Scottsbluff on Saturday to take part in the Scottsbluff Invite at the Country Club Course, one of the areas tougher layouts. Competing in Division Two for the smaller schools, Kimball finished third with a team score of 474.

Mitchell won with 444, and Bridgeport shot 445.

Snyder of Mitchell again took top individual honors with her round of 92 but Brianna Jones brought home the silver medal with her 2nd place finish shooting 100 and Brooke Hager was 3rd with her 102 round. Hannah Walker shot 128, and Jaycie Walker 144. Coach Nora Robinson had only four girls at the Scottsbluff Tournament.

Commenting on the week, Coach Robinson said, “All of girls met their goals and we achieved our team goals as well. Brianna is playing very consistent and recorded her low career rounds. Brooke has had some foot problems and hopefully will be rid of this situation this week. All of our players are improving and doing well.”

Kimball was to play at Gering this past Tuesday and will compete at Ogallala on Monday (Sept. 23).
