  • Database built to reunite families/ pets

    Tonia Copeland|Dec 17, 2015

Reuniting families is its own reward, even when the lost family member is a pet. Though dog at large and impound calls are not increasing, citizens are reaching out on social media more frequently, seeking help in locating their missing pets. Amid that increase of lost pet posts on a local garage sale Facebook page, Kimball man Tom O’Brien set in motion a new page, Kimball Area Pet Search and Doggy Database. “I think the breaking point for me came last week when we were at Beer and Loathing for pool league. Someone came in the door and in wal...

  • Airport growth expected

    Dawn Fossand|Dec 17, 2015

“Leave it in a better state than when it was given to you.” That is a motto Airport Authority Board Chairman Jason Lockwood adheres to and a quote that was stated to him, by the former airport chairman, the late Ken Risk. Renovations are planned for Kimball’s Robert E. Arraj airport, according to Lockwood. The property, which is more than half a century old, is projected to see new runway lights and a new beacon by early 2017, at an approximate cost of $150,000. Although just four licensed pilots operate from the local facility, he explained th...

    Dawn Fossand|Dec 17, 2015

Traveling through Kimball decades ago with his young family, Glynn Felkins never imagined he would one day call Kimball his home. Originally from Commerce City, Colo., Felkins said he has no regrets moving to Kimball with his wife of 52 years, Ann. "We used to come through Kimball when we would go to Crawford to visit Ann's parents," Felkins said. "We used to stop at the old drive-in, Dogs-n-Suds, and then take the kids to the park, never knowing that we would someday live here." Felkins was a c...

Peetz reported to the Kimball Board of Education at their meeting Monday night regarding just two findings of during the audit. The first was a lack of segregation of duties, according to Peetz. • Kimball boys win over Morrill

    Tom Southard|Dec 17, 2015

The Kimball High boys played Perkins County close on the road Friday night, losing 64-59, but came back strong Saturday on the home court to defeat Morrill 78-31. It was a good weekend for coach Luke Dea's Longhorns as they are showing improvement each time out as they adapt to the style of play the Kimball coaches are stressing this season. "We want to play an aggressive, fast pace style of basketball, on both offense and defense. With our lack of height, we need to really push the ball on offe...
