    Kimball's Veterans of Foreign War post #2243 was recently named an All American Post and so honored at the National Convention, on July 22-27 in New Orleans, for their outstanding activity and growth, according to John Liebsack, Adjutant / Quartermaster for the State of Nebraska Veterans of Foreign War.     Shoe Drive was a success for the community of Kimball. 135 bags of shoes were collected over the past three months. Last Wednesday was pickup day, volunteers filled Beer and Loathing to help load the shoe bags into the truck, but, of course, it was just loading the shoes that help was needed for. Bags upon bags, boxes or donations, came to the local establishment for the shoe drive, many hours were spent sorting and pairing shoes.     Kimball High School's New Dimension took the stage on Nov. 4, at the Old West Choir Fest competition held in Scottsbluff. With 23 schools competing, New Dimension placed in the top 7, making it into the Best of the Fest for the second year in a row!     Beloved basketball player, “inventor of the Jump Shot”, coach and great hardworking man, was honored last Friday night at the Arena-Auditorium on the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie. Kenny Sailors was actually born in Bushnell, on Jan. 14, 1921. I have tried all my sources to find out where about it Bushnell, but no luck. Anyway, Sailors grew up on a farm near Hillsdale, Wyo., where he began shooting the “Jump Shot” while playing with his older and much taller brother.     Lady Coyotes split games last week, Win over Creek Valley and a Loss to Hyannis. Potter-Dix played host to Creek Valley, last Tuesday, when they got another win on the season. Creek Valley took the first set with a score of 25-11, Potter-Dix won the second set 25-23, and the third set 25-22, Creek Valley took the fourth set 25-15, but the final fifth set came down to a two point game 16-14 to win the match 3-2.     Kimball ended the 2017 season 10-20 over all and 2-6 in district. Senior Hannah Biesecker, finished the season with 294 kills, 166 points, 175 digs, 61 ace serves, 37 blocks and eight assists. Senior, Justine Heeg, ended the year with 327 assists, 109 points, 48 kills, 27 digs, 16 ace serves, and four blocks. Kate Reader, finished off her season with 167 kills, 48 points, 18 blocks, 18 digs, 11 ace serves and five assists.
