    Though she neared 101 years of age on Aug. 21, 2017, Kimball's Maxine James was able to watch a total solar eclipse for the first time. Maxine celebrated her birthday early, she turns 101 on September 11, by watching the "once-in-a-lifetime" event with family. Harold was born on Sept. 4, 1952 in North Platte to Harold Duane and Shirley Jean (Beavers) Carlson, Sr. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1971 and served in the US Army from 1971 thru 1974.     The Banner County Lady Wildcats opened their season at home on Friday, Aug.25, against the Cody-Kilgore Cowgirls. Sets began with the junior varsity teams facing off for a quick three sets that ended the JV season opener with a 3-0 loss for the Lady Cats with varsity play immediately following.     A turnout of 18 golfers participated in Sunday’s One-Person Scramble held at the Four Wind Golf Course, and Mitch Brown emerged the winner with his round of 53, using a 100% handicap system for all golfers.
