  • Commissioners approve tourism board bylaws change

    The Kimball County commissioners approved bylaw changes for the county visitors committee at Tuesday’s regularly scheduled meeting. Prior to Tuesday, the bylaws required that two members of the seven-member visitors committee be involved in overnight lodging in the county. The changed added the phrase “if possible” in order to help the board get up to a full seven members. “We’re kind of hanging out there.     The members of the Potter High School Graduating Class of 1965 have been named the 2015 Potter Days Grand Marshals, according to Potter Days Committee member Peg Musil. The class of '65 graduated 37 students, though at one time there were 44 students in that class. This weekend 24 of those graduates, from across the nation, will join together once again in Potter to reunite and celebrate.   • Bushnell VFD donates funds to Halligan

    The Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department presented a check to Cody Halligan to help with expenses while Halligan undergoes treatment for cancer. The check was presented to him on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Proceeds were raised at a hog roast/hamburger feed held at the fire hall on Friday, Aug. 21.     A new granite sign will welcome golfers to the Four Winds Golf Course. The sign was donated by the children of Al and Fredene Pietsch in memory of their parents. The 3,800 pound of granite was built by Herstead Monument Company of Scottsbluff with Byron Wilson bringing the chunk of stone to Kimball this past Thursday morning and then overseeing its placement.     Kimball's Payton Wise competed in the Regional Masters Drive-Chip-Putt contest this past weekend in Denver and ended up fourth overall in her division. She actually finished 2nd in the long drive for accuracy and distance but had some trouble with her chipping on this day, but had some great putts according to her father, Four Winds Pro, Chad Wise.
