  • Funny Money: Counterfeits no laughing matter

    Counterfeit money is being circulated in Kimball according to a recent news release from Kimball Police chief Darren Huff. Initially, Huff said Points West Bank identified phony bills on several occasions and contacted the police to report them. However, FirsTier Bank in Kimball has also reported counterfeit money and Huff said that, to date, fake $5, $10, $20 and $100 denominations have been collected.     Burglars and vandals have broken into at least two Kimball businesses this past week. "This is a very sensitive case and we are not at a point to comment in detail at this time," Kimball Chief of Police, Darren Huff said. "However, I can tell you there were two businesses that were burglarized either late Monday (June 20) or early Tuesday (June 21) morning. The Kimball Police Department is presently investigating leads and processing evidence to bring the individual(s) responsible to justice."...

    Kimball County Assessor Sherry Winstrom again proposed a county-wide third-party reassessment of all Kimball County properties to the Board of Equalization on Tuesday, June 21.     Kimball City Council discussed, and ultimately approved, in open meeting on Tuesday, June 23, a nuisance abatement agreement with Mike Schadegg for properties located on south Oak Street and west First Street. With the Andy Shaw 10th Annual Co-ed Softball Tournament going on both Saturday and Sunday, and the annual TeamMates Golf Tournament taking place onSaturday, the area was alive with activity.
