Truth: If someone in your class has autism, they probably struggle with social skills, which may make it difficult to interact with peers. They might seem shy or unfriendly, but that's just because he or she is unable communicate their desire for...

That is a possibility at Kimball High School, according to Guidance Counselor Chauncey Pedersen. A variety of courses are offered locally, through distance learning, for which Kimball has no certificated teacher from high schools across Nebraska. This program allows students to take high school courses of interest during any regular school, but the system does not come without disadvantages....

  • LTTE: Great emergency service in Kimball

    Patricia Randolph|Apr 7, 2016

This comes as a public expression of gratitude to our amazing, caring, wonderful Kimball Volunteer Fire Department. After 10:00 p.m., on March 29, I returned to the kitchen and living room areas of the house – after teaching evening piano lessons in the other end of the house – to find those rooms filled with smoke. Within five minutes after placing my call to 911, they were coming to my rescue, removing the crazy microwave oven that had set itself on fire from the house to the yard. If they had not come so promptly and worked so eff...

    Tom Southard|Apr 7, 2016

We finally got the outdoor track season underway this past week and the Kimball Longhorns were put to the test with a meet on Saturday at Bayard and a meet in Chappell on Monday. Both days were pretty nice, especially for Western Nebraska. The Horns have some muscle pulls and some ailments they are fighting through but still some good efforts from the Big Red. Was fun to get to see Potter-Dix and Banner County at Bayard as I don’t get to see them as often as I did in years past. I enjoy talking to the Giffords and to coach Hilpert and his s...
