    The Kimball High School speech team competed in the district speech competition last week in North Platte and is sending 10 of 11 students to Kearney, today, Thursday, March 23 for the state competition in seven events.     The Kimball High School was placed on lockdown on Wednesday, March 15, during a routine search of student lockers and vehicles.     Although the local VFW post had been declining for the past several years,an influx of new members with fresh ideas has rejuvenated the Post.     Coach Gene Mohr has high hopes for his Kimball High track team this spring with 29 boys and 15 girls checked out. The boy's sophomore class has the largest representation with 13 young men on the roster, followed by six juniors, five freshmen and five seniors.
