The Kimball Banner County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting, Jan. 9, 2017, featured an Italian buffet. Traditionally, the Kimball school board uses the first meeting of each new year to reappoint officers, board committees, media and financial affiliates. This year was no different. At their Jan. 9 regular meeting, the Kimball Board of Education renewed the officers of the board, electing to keep everyone in the current positions. The Kimball High Boys and the Potter-Dix Girls emerged winners in contests between the two schools this past week. The Potter-Dix girls won out 51-41 over Kimball with the Lady Coyotes out scoring the Lady Longhorns 14-7 in the final period to come out on top. The Potter-Dix boys are in a rebuilding year and Kimball had no problem winning out 64-14. Kimball senior Eric Escajeda was the Longhorn's only medal winner at the Chase County Invitational Wrestling Tournament held this past Saturday in Imperial. Escajeda brought home the third place medal wrestling at 285 winning 3 matches and losing twice. It’s SPVA week for the Kimball High basketball team and Kimball fans lucked out in that they didn’t have to travel for first round play as both the Kimball girls and boys were first round hosts. There was a delay in the boy’s game which was supposed to have been played this past Monday night, but due to the ice storms east of us, their game with Chase County was moved back one day, to Tuesday, the same night the Kimball girls hosted Bridgeport. A win and a loss for the Kimball High girls the past weekend. The win came Friday night at Bridgeport with the Lady Horns coming out on top 45-40 and the loss came Saturday night at Gordon-Rushville 64-44. The Kimball girls are now 4-5 in the win-loss department. The Potter-Dix Coyotes faced a tough opening weekend following the holiday break. The Potter-Dix club began with an away game against the Bayard Tigers on Friday, Jan. 6 and came home with a 60-29 loss.
