Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Jock Talk

A big golf happening is now in the books with the Vince’s Corner A-B-C-D Double Draw Scramble held this past weekend. Golfers poured into Kimball on Friday and many played a practice round before the Friday evening get together for a meal at the Windbreak and the drawing for Saturday play. The scramble concluded Sunday afternoon and it was termed a success once again. You can read all of the results in this week’s Observer Sports.

--------------------------------

This Saturday evening is the Mason-sponsored Glow Ball, 4-person scramble with 9 holes played in the day light and 9 holes in the dark. You can maybe still get in if interested, either as a team or by calling the Four Winds Pro Shop and see if they can place you on a team. It should be a blast, so give them a call at 235-4241.

------------------------------------------------

Looking ahead on the schedule, the Panhandle Senior Ladies will be playing at the Four Winds on July 23rd, so be sure and call for Open Golf Tee Times on that date. The next big event after that is the Kimball Hospital Foundation Tournament on August 4th so get ready to get entered in this fun event. We will feed you more info as the date gets closer, but now is the time to call the Four Winds Pro Shop, or Kerry Ferguson, and get signed up.

Kimball-based junior golfers fared well at the recent Mitchell Panhandle Junior Golf Tour Tournament. Dillon Wise won the senior boy’s division with his round of 80, Zane Anthony was just one stroke back for second with his 81. Tristen Zitek of Pine Bluffs, was third with 83. Payton Wise, shown at right, playing in the High School girl’s division, was also a winner shooting a very good round of 82.

Dillon Wise and Zane Anthony will be competing in the Nebraska Junior Amateur Tournament in Columbus this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so we wish them well and will report results next week.
