Local runners carry a torch

The Cornhusker State Games Torch Run passed through Kimball on Friday, June 8. Runners gathered at 1 p.m. in front of the Kimball County Courthouse.

Kimball High School Cross Country and Track team led by Brady Kilgore leads off this segment. Kilgore was a state medalist in Cross Country.

The Torch Run, sponsored by the Nebraska National Guard and Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association, is the precursor to the 2018 Cornhusker State Games. The complete route and event list is available at cornhuskerstategames.com/torch_run.

The 34th annual Cornhusker State Games takes place July 20-29 in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding communities. Officials expect more than 11,000 participants of all ages and abilities to participate in over 60 different sports. Registered participants receive a shirt and pass to Opening Ceremonies, including the pre-show Sports Fest meal with their paid entry fees.
