Farmers Day 2015: Annual 'Fun Run' set for Farmers Day

After 30 years of organizing the Farmers Day Fun Run, Pat O’Brien passed the baton to Kimball High School cross country coach Tiffany Johnson. Johnson has coordinated the event for the last four years.

O’Brien gave Johnson all the information she needed to take the event and run with it, including where to order bib numbers and medals.

Johnson does not do it all on her own, though, as she has relied on partnerships throughout the community and a group of close friends.

“The fire hall has been very nice in allowing us to use their space. The chamber office is awesome about helping to get the word out and Clean Harbors is always gracious enough to give us a donation. Also the ambulance crew and the police department help out with traffic control and keeping everyone safe,” Johnson said. “I have several good friends that help me get everything done. Larry and Laurie Janicek, Tammy Shields, Beth Huddleston, my family, and probably more that I am forgetting.”

The event generally draws about 100 entries and the top three runners in each division are given medals and ribbons. Additionally, the group also draws for chamber dollars to be used at any participating business.

For more information or to register, contact the chamber of commerce at 308-235-3782.
