Potter man dies in I-80 wreck

A Potter man died Friday morning as the result of a two-vehicle accident on I-80 in Kimball County.

According to a Nebraska State Patrol report, Christopher Maas, 26, was heading eastbound on I-80 in a 2014 Chevy Silverado about 7:30 a.m. when he collided with the rear of a tractor trailer parked on the shoulder near mile marker 29. Maas died as a result of the crash.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Kathy Brock, 49, of Irvine, Calif., was transported by ambulance to Kimball Health Services and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The state patrol said it is unknown if seat belts were in use at the time of the accident, and added that the investigation into the crash remains open.
