Wolf Automotive celebrates 19 years of business

On Friday June 27, 2014 Wolf Automotive celebrated their 19th Anniversary.

They celebrated the occasion with a barbecue and the presence of a local radio station. They also brought in several older model cars to have on display as a tribute to years past.

Dave Wolf and his daughter Denise were present at the occasion. They made the rounds and spoke with all the people who stopped by to join in on the celebration.

Dave Wolf has been selling cars since 1968 and though he moved out to Kimball with the hopes of partially retiring in June of 1995, he started up Wolf Automotive.

“We moved out here to get into the cattle business and to kind of semi-retire. An old friend of mine owned the store and told me he was ill, and I said I was looking to buy a store. Next thing I knew I had bought this store and the Ford store across the street. Once we got started we’ve kept expanding the business,” Wolf said.

Businesses like Wolf Automotive are great for small communities like Kimball, they provide jobs and other services that residents might have to drive hours to otherwise. Wolf provides Kimball with new and used car sales as well as a full service and parts department that can assist with maintenance and repairs.

“We provide 25 jobs. People come here to get their cars fixed and while their waiting they shop in town, so that provides places in town with some patronage,” Wolf said.

Wolf Automotive gives its customers a small town experience that other dealers in larger cities aren’t capable of giving.

“People come to us because they want that small town caring. They are greeted with a hand shake and a smile. They feel welcome, and they are treated well,” Wolf said.

Wolf acknowledges that they do have to make a profit, it’s still a business but due to the small town existence they are always rubbing shoulders with the people they serve in the community daily, be it at their kids’ school or at church. This influences their business ethics.

“We’ve met so many people in the community that we’ve been able to help with their transportation needs. It’s a rewarding experience. I like people and I like solving problems. That’s how I look at selling cars, I’m solving transportation problems,” Wolf said.

At Wolf Automotive they try to carry American made cars, since they know that that is the demand in the area, and they want to fit their customers’ needs in order to solve their transportation problems.

“We carry American made because in rural America we all bleed the red, white, and blue,” Wolf said.

Wolf is also very pleased that his children have decided to be involved in the business as well, and they hope to serve Kimball for years to come.
