Doug C. Johnson, 76, of Kimball, died at the Kimball County Manor on Sunday, October 6, 2013.

Doug’s wishes were that his friends meet him at the Diner for a cup of coffee and that is why memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Diner in Kimball with Pastor Mel Daves officiating.

Cremation has been held and burial will be at a later date. Friends may visit http://www.cantrellfh.com to view the obituary and leave condolences for the family. The services for Doug have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.

Douglas Clinton Johnson was born in Oakdale, Nebraska on July 30, 1937, the son of Vern and Grace (Tierney) Johnson. He attended and graduated from school in Oakdale. Doug served his country in the United States Army and was proud of his time in the military. He started a family in Neligh Nebraska where he worked as a mechanic and then later as a plumber. He moved his family to Kimball in 1969. He worked at Weather Wise and then worked in the oil fields for many years. Doug had several jobs through his life, but he really enjoyed working as a custodian for the Georgetown, Texas School System. Doug had a quick wit and he was always ready to tell a story, he never met a stranger and loved to visit.

Survivors include his children Louis (Karen) Johnson of Norfolk, NE., Jeff Johnson of Scottsbluff, NE., and Carol (Keith) Bernard of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Holly, Nick, Amber and Andy; 4 great grandchildren.
