    An emotional event took place following the Kimball and Hershey girl's basketball game in Hershey this past Friday evening.     A split weekend for the Kimball High boys with a loss at Hershey and a win at Bayard leaving them at 3-3 going into the Holiday break. The Horns were up against some large and stocky young men at Hershey and had a hard time competing on the boards resulting in a 69-52 loss to the Panthers, but came back strong Saturday at Bayard to secure their third win of the season with a final score board reading of 54-41.     Two more wins for the Kimball High girls over the weekend leaving them at 6-0 going into the Christmas break. With wins at Hershey on Friday night, and at Bayard on Saturday, the Lady Longhorns and coach Chauncey Pedersen have attained their first short term goal of being 6-0 at the break.     The Kimball High Wrestling Team took part in the Bridgeport/Sidney Tournament this past Saturday in yet another very strong, and talented gathering of the best that Western Nebraska has to offer.     A special salute to Kimball High senior Danika Daum this week as she continues to re-write the Kimball High girl’s basketball record book. After setting a new school record of 40 points in a single game a week back, this past week she reached yet another milestone for herself of going over the 1,000 career point mark.     The Banner County Wildcats hit the road to play against the Leyton Warriors on Friday, Dec. 18 for the first of two non-conference weekend games.     The Banner County Lady Wildcats opened their weekend on Friday, Dec. 18 with an away game against the Leyton Lady Warriors. The Banner County ladies were out shot by the older, more experienced Warriors who took the win 48-12. Lady Wildcat MaKenna Dahlgrin led the scoring with five points.     The Kimball junior varsity and freshman basketball teams got their seasons underway two weeks ago with the JV teams playing Perkins County and Morrill and the boys freshman team going up against Sidney.
